Devan currently serves as a Chief Financial Officer at Garden City Companies. He is responsible for overseeing the firm’s financial operations, including accounting, reporting and risk management. He works closely with the leaders and teams at portfolio companies to implement strategic initiatives that drive growth and profitability.

Devan has more than 20 years of advisory and corporate finance experience. In his last role he served as CFO at Griffin Brothers Companies, a middle market family office based in Charlotte, NC. He also served as fractional CFO for several portfolio companies. 

Devan has significant experience in advising founders and owners of private companies and high net worth families on business strategy, operations, finance, valuation and corporate transactions.

Previously, he worked as CFO in South Africa after spending almost a decade in various roles in corporate advisory and investment banking in South Africa, the United Kingdom and the USA. Devan co-founded M&A boutique, One Capital, and previously worked for Deloitte.

Devan, a native of South Africa, holds a Master of Accounting from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill, Kenan-Flagler Business School, a Bachelor of Commerce degree and Accounting Honors degree from the University of Pretoria, South Africa. He is an Arizona licensed CPA, Chartered Accountant (South Africa) and CFA charterholder.

Additionally, he acts as an advisor to a faith based non-profit, Nika Capital and serves a non-executive director at WastePlan Holdings. Outside the boardroom, Devan finds great joy in the company of his wife and three children. He previously lived and worked in South Africa and the United Kingdom.
