Joseph Howell

Chief of Staff

Joseph currently serves as Chief of Staff to the CEO at Garden City Equity. In this role, he is primarily responsible for strategic initiatives and maximizing efficiency at Garden City. Prior to joining Garden City, Joseph was an associate at Trivest Partners, a Miami-based private equity firm with ~$5.5 billion AUM making minority and majority investments in founder and family-owned businesses in the lower middle market.

Earlier in his career, Joseph worked in critical roles for the campaign of Virginia Governor, Glenn Youngkin. Prior to that, he served in the executive branch of the U.S. government first at the U.S. Department of Commerce and later at the White House. During his time at the White House he managed the Pledge to America’s Workers, a national initiative focused on encouraging private-sector led workforce development programs, and served as director of private sector engagement for trade policy where he focused on building consensus among industry and government stakeholders on trade policies and agreements such as USMCA and various tariff actions. Joseph began his career working as an intern in the London office of Cerberus Capital Management, a global investment firm with $60 billion AUM across credit, private equity, and real estate platforms.

Joseph studied international relations at the University of St Andrews during his first year of university, received his undergraduate degree from the University of Virginia, and received a Masters in International Business at the University of South Carolina. Originally from Charleston, SC, Joseph and his wife, Elizabeth, now live in Jupiter, FL.
